SWBF2 Keyhash Page Image

Keyhash In Depth

The keyhash search page has been retired and has been removed from the website altogether. There really aren't any SWBF2 (Classic) server admins looking for keyhashes anymore as shown from the SWBF2 (Classic) server manager which is now deprecated, so we've dropped the keyhash search page altogether.

The current Keyhash results are incorporated into the Player Search form results. These new search results will provide ALL alias names linked through a player's Star Wars Battlefront 2 (Classic) online encrypted hash. The queried hash is checked against our database of all the contributing servers that have ever submitted their server files to our website for community leaderboard and player rankings.

Remember, there may be multiple keyhashes using the same player name and one keyhash may be using several player names. For instance, There may be many keyhashes using the name "Player1", so the results page may give you a list of several player and keyhash leaderboards to view.

Clicking on a keyhash link will give you the collective leaderboard for that specific keyhash using the name "Player1" and any other player names used by that keyhash installation as an aggregate total leaderboard of all of the names.

However, clicking on a PLAYER name in a search result list or in any leaderboard will only give you the leaderboard for THAT specific player as used by THAT specific keyhash (NOT a aggregate total collection of all keyhashes using that specific player name).

Player/Keyhash leaderboards have been updated to include aggregate totals, all modes and all maps that the player (or keyhash) has played, while playing on any contributing SWBF2stats.net community server. Clicking on a map link (Original map or Mod map) will now show a new statistics leaderboard for that particular map and a visitor can see if that player has ranked on that map or not.

Some History

We've provided a history of what the keyhash search used to be used for and how SWBF2 (Classic) admins would use this tool for potential problem players.

What was the "Keyhash Search"?

The keyhash search used to be an actual search form for input. However, the keyhash search is now an inclusion of the player search form. If you do a search for a player's name, the results page will show each player name and a truncated keyhash link that match your queried string. Clicking on the player's name will bring up that player's stat page that is specific to that player's keyhash for those stats.

Previous to removing the keyhash search function, online Star Wars Battlefront 2 (Classic) server admins could retrieve an online player's individual SWBF2 (Classic) installation keyhash from the SWBF2 Server Manager logs of their server or from the online SWBF2 remote server manager itself (while it was running the server). Once a server admin had retrieved this online keyhash for a specific player on their server, the server admin could then come to our website and enter that SWBF2 online keyhash using the keyhash search form that was on this page.

The user generated search would look through our database of ALL the SWBF2 (Classic) servers that has contributed to our leaderboards for the Star Wars Battlefront 2 (Classic) game through our website. The keyhash search results will display the leaderboards statistics for that keyhash AND any alias names used by that player. You can then click on that "alias" and get the statistics for just that individual or complete statistics across all leaderboards based upon ALL the alias names used by the SWBF2 (Classic) online encrypted hash link.

Many admins used this keyhash search function because they had online trolls on their server. SWBF2 (classic) Server admins could come to the SWBF2stats.net site and see what other player names were using the keyhash they were seeing on their own server and compare it to historical records and other servers who were also seeing these players. It became a community tool to circumvent the trolls by banning them or restricting their access during community game nights.

What is the SWBF2 (Classic) online keyhash?

If you played Star Wars Battlefront 2 (Classic) online in multiplayer mode, your game would generate an online keyhash. That keyhash is a 32 digit encrypted hash of your installation key for the Star Wars Battlefront 2 (Classic) game. If you joined an SWBF2 online server, your keyhash would follow you and you would be identified as that encrypted keyhash on that server along with whatever alias name you were using at the time.

If you stayed until the end of the session (map), your keyhash would be logged in the "statistics.csv" file. Your keyhash was always the same and was permanent. It did not matter what server you joined, the period of time between sessions, or the alias name you used. Your keyhash was the same as it always was, even if you changed the "alias" name you were playing with "in game".

The online keyhash search tool could be utilized in several ways here.

  • Individual gaming groups, clans, and teams can track their own players. SWBF2 (Classic) Server admins can then filter leaderboards based on their own criteria. (ie: Search [JJB] when looking for all rankings of all players playing with the [JJB] tag like [JJB]JarJar, etc.)

  • An SWBF2 (Classic) server admin can verify an individual player (or players) for online competitive matches. All players in an online SWBF2 (Classic) server has their online hash showing in the SWBF2 (Classic) server manager when joining that online server. Every online server generates a log when the map session ends. Verifying a player's installation hash against a KNOWN hash for that player was the core of online verification in the online SWBF2 competitive community which was INCREDIBLY strong for quite some time.

  • Our keyhash search tool could also be used to gain insight to potential trolls who can easily change their SWBF2 alias name by searching for any alias names that player has been playing under. You can easily ban a player on your own server by adding their keyhash to the SWBF2 (Classic) Server Manager. SWBF2 (Classic) admins can easily share blacklists for known hackers, wall glitchers, exploiters, trolls, and more.
